Good Mood Boards – even just looking at fabrics and wallpapers can cheer me up when I’m down in the dumps. So a mood board does exactly what it says on the tin. Sometimes I like to put one together for no reason other than to see what works together with an off-cut of something that takes my fancy. Hopefully these will also help to lift your spirits. They might even inspire you to turn that grumpy room into a happy one.

How to Colour Your Home with Sophie Robinson

Colour Your Home with Sophie Robinson This is my post on how to colour your home with Sophie Robinson. If you can’t see the video please click here. The Great Interior Design Challenge I’m a big fan of BBC2’s The Great Interior Design Challenge so I was very excited to attend Sophie Robinson’s colour workshop recently. As a regular judge, and on the most recent series a finalist guest judge, Sophie makes no bones about the fact she is massively into colour. Shades of grey For me colour has been a bit of a taboo in recent years. When I was styling people’s rooms at university I had a crazy young thing palette.  The interiors I’ve been designing in recent years have been with the purpose of selling and it’s well known that pale, and lets face it safe colours appeal to more people. Colour is very subjective so it’s safer to go with what people are more likely to like than go for the wow but also marmite factor. Yvonne Coomber Shows How to Add Colour to Your Home with Art

Yvonne Coomber This is my post on how to add colour to your home with art by Yvonne Coomber. If you can’t see the video please click here. Afraid of colour I’ve been accused of being way too much into muted tones. It’s true my house is a bit of a shrine to white and grey! So I’ve been working on bringing colour into my home. With this in mind, of course I jumped at the opportunity to have artist Yvonne Coomber. I’ve always loved her work, it’s just so full of colour and happiness. Nothing prepared me though for the impact her pieces would have on some of the rooms. Meet the artist Yvonne is one of those people who oozes happiness. When she and her husband arrived at my front door they seemed to bring an air of calm with them. We started by looking at what we could add to my snug. This is a room I’ve tried to make feel a bit like a conservatory with lots of plants. It’s still quite plain though. We put up Yvonne’s Summertime Kisses which she described as a ‘celebration of the foxgloves, the campions and the daisies doing their thing in…

My Lounge Good Mood Board

My Lounge Mood Board Video If you can’t see the video of My Lounge Good Mood Board click here Decaf lows I’ve been a bit grumpy lately as the weather has been rubbish and I’ve been trying to cut down my caffeine intake – I swear you need rehab for this! Anyway, I feel in desperate need of a good mood board. I’ve also been thinking that my lounge is a bit blah in a bland way. I’d gone for subtle colours because it felt like it needed lightening, having been a medium blue before, but now I feel like it needs something to give it a zing. I’ve got loads of higher priority things to get on with right now, so this may not happen for a while, but that’s the beauty of a mood board, there’s no commitment and you can build it gradually until you’re happy. Decorate with selling in mind Now I’m satisfied with the base colour scheme. I always say decorate how you would to sell the house and then add your individual, more subjective touches afterwards. There are three very good reasons for this: 1.       You never know when your circumstances may change and…
