New home, new neighbourhood

There is something very exciting about a whole new dwelling popping up. So I was intrigued to scout out Darwin Green.

It’s a brand spanking new development just 1.6 miles from Cambridge City Centre, surrounded by 15 acres of open park.

This is a Barratt David Wilson Homes project – they’ve been 5* builders for 10 consecutive years don’t you know?! Ok so they aren’t new, but in that respect it’s good news right?

There are a set of just under 1600 homes, split between 1+2 bed apartments, and 2,3 + 4 bed townhouses.

All of them are benefitting from Cambridge’s brilliant commuter links into London, of course.

New everything!

Also new is the focal point of this neighbourhood, ‘The Square’ with new shops, a library, health centre and even new schools.

So, if you’re a househunter who likes ‘new’, but loves the old charms and benefits of Cambridge, this is pretty good news.

My main feeling from having a nose around a couple of the showhomes is that there’s a really good use of light and space.

The way I’d describe the design is that it’s modern, as you’d expect, but with a classical undertone. I’d love to hear what you think if you go to see them.
